Eating Worms and Carving Pumpkins - Happy Reformation Day!

Tonight we are having a Reformation Day Party at church. On October 31st 1517 Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door in Wittenberg. So in honor of that I made a dessert to honor the famous speech at the Diet of Worms. This is one of many little pudding pies I made with pudding, oreos crushed and blended to look like dirt and then a gummy worm on top.
This year we had some fun with pumpkins too. Katie "helped" (read watched) me carve a Mickey pumpkin and then immediately asked for a Goofy Pumpkin. So I gutted another pumpkin and Josh did the carving on it. I think they turned out pretty well and they really make our Katie very happy.

No, Thank you

I didn't get to watch my favorite cartoon this morning. I love "Charlie and Lola", apparently Katie isn't as thrilled. This morning after breakfast she was walking upstairs to go play and I said "Katie don't you want to watch Charlie and Lola". She looked at me and said "No". So I tried to convince her "But we love Charlie and Lola" and she replied "No, Thank you!". At least she was polite. Maybe Joy will like Charlie and Lola someday. Yesterday's episode was especially good. Lola was supposed to clean her room and kept playing with all the toys instead - the way she did it was exactly how I would have done it. But then when she finally did clean the room up and got it completely tidy her brother lays one book out of place and she gets after him. That is soooooo like me too. I'm messy but once things are clean it annoys me when others don't keep it that way.

Six Months Later

It has been six months since my hemmorrage and hysterectomy. I've made so much improvement the last 6 months. I'm starting to feel much better both emotionally and physically and I'm so thankful to be alive.

Happy Birthday dear Papa!!!!

Here is Katie singing Happy Birthday to her Grandpa!

Pictures from our trip to OC

We were down in Orange County the past few days. Josh's presbytery meeting was being held just 3 miles from my parents house. My dad's birthday was Wednesday so we brought him a little calico kitten. I think he's going to call her Alley. She is a very lovey kitty cat. You may recognize her from the pirate party pictures - she is the offspring of my friend Michelle's cat. I was actually over at her house when the kitty was born. And although she might really miss her previous owners; I think she'll be happy in her new home.

Funny Faces

It appears my kids get very expressive at about this age. I think it is teething faces. Last night Joy was particularly fussy and wouldn't take a pacifier. She was fussing so my mom and I were playing with her patting our hand on her mouth making the "wa wa wa" sound when she cried - this usually makes her laugh but I guess she didn't want to laugh so she shut her mouth tight and gave us funny faces. I grabbed the camera and snapped some pics and these are what I got.

Some Sunday Pictures

I found this dress/hat/coat when Katie was a baby at a second hand shop for a couple dollars. It is such a fun little outfit. Joy looks just as cute as Katie did in it.
